Hello!

This is just a brief note to tell you all about the people involved with Engage.

Dean Aston: Is a KYPE (Keeping Young People Engaged) Link Mentor working out of Sandwell Youth Offending Team. It is Dean’s job to work with young offenders serving Detention and Training Orders (DTO) and/or young people on Intensive Supervision Surveillance Programmes (ISSP). This means that Dean does alot of work both in the secure estate-especially Brinsford YOI-and in the community to mentor, support, and provide advice & guidance young people into employment, training or education.

Dean has been working for the KYPE project for almost three years and has extensive experience of working with young people from all backgrounds. Aside from Engage, Dean has co-ordinated other projects such as an ESF funded carpentry project for young offenders, youth community radio production and broadcasting, and pre-employability training groups to name but a few.

Dean’s aim is to continue to engage young people in innovative and creative ways in order to motivate and promote positive lifestyles for young people.

Tanuja Patel: Tanuja is a senior Connexions Personal Adviser. She has been working for Connexions for the past seven years. Her specialist role is working with NEET (not in education, employment or training) young people across Sandwell.

Tanuja has a great deal of experience in developing partnerships with colleges, training providers, and employers; and is the one to go to if you want a careers event setting up.

Emma Strahan: Specialist Health Nurse

Supporting cast: We would like to thank everyone who has supported Engage so far in making it a success. Special thanks to Anna Price, Maria Tinsley, and of course, wesharestuff and St.Albans Community Centre without whom we would not have any facilities.
